ANDY GARCIA doing a bad Brando is alone worth seeing it. This is a good film in a sea of bad movies. The family scenes are frustrating perhaps they are too true.
Life is disappointing in so many ways. Set on a small island at the tip of the Bronx writer, director RAYMOND De FELITTA knows his dysfunctional families.
When an illegitimate son just out of prison shows up things are just getting started.
I particularly liked the acting scenes as the always reliable EMILY MORTIMER gives another winning performance as a fellow acting student.
This film has great humor and heart without being precious. It never loses it's core base of reality.
A winner!
