There's a rule in review writing that you can't say "it was a great ride." I am going to break that rule because the ride is the movie.
This film is by CHRISTOPHER NOLAN, the talent behind the latest "BATMAN" and "MOMENTO" and it is a true original without becoming outrageous and beyond it's own set of rules that it establish about time and space in dreams.
A crew is put together to enter into the subconscious of a young man about to inherit a conglomerate. They set about to enter into his dreams to suggest to him to break up the monopoly his father has put together. LEO DiCAPRIO is the leader of the pack. This is an action, action, action film with an excellent cast. But can you follow the idea through 4 levels of sleep? A dream within a dream within a dream yes and once more within a dream. I must admit I lost track of some of the logic.
But in the end who cares? It is wonderful film making and yes a ride and a half. It is very odd that Leo would do back to back films that have certain elements that would appear to be identical. And to have Edith Piouf singing in a MARION COLLTARD film is also a bit of a question mark. But I can overlook all that and tell you to go.
IT IS GREAT FILM MAKING AND A RIDE AND A HALF!!!
